What does my first appointment involve?

Your first visit at Long Street Dental is longer than your subsequent check-ups, as we take time to get to know you and understand your oral health and treatment preferences. We begin with an informal chat, asking about any previous dental work or concerns, and finding out your smile goals.

The main part of your visit is a comprehensive new patient consultation, involving a full medical and dental history, clinical examination and small intraoral X-rays. We carefully assess your oral and dental health, looking for anything that may need attention.

We explain our findings to you and provide you with a written report. If you need further treatment, we explain the options available to you so you can make an informed decision about the best one for you and your budget. We also give you advice on the best way to keep your mouth healthy between check-ups.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new patient consultation cost?

At our practice in Devizes, a new patient consultation currently costs £126.00, a saving on the usual price of £210. Please note that a £50 non-returnable deposit is taken at the time of booking.

How long will my first visit take?

Your first visit will likely take longer than a standard routine dental examination. We intentionally allocate extra time so that we can learn about you, fully evaluate your clinical needs, and ensure you have ample opportunity to talk through your preferences.

What should I bring or prepare for my first appointment?

You don’t need to bring anything specific, but it is very helpful to have a list of any current medications you are taking, as we will complete a full medical and dental history form with you during the visit.

I am feeling nervous - can you help me?

If you are feeling nervous, please don’t worry. We are friendly and gentle, and very experienced in treating nervous patients. We will tailor your appointment so you feel more comfortable and at ease throughout. Please let us know if you are feeling worried or if there is anything we can do to help you feel completely relaxed and safe.

What happens if I need further treatment?

If we identify any areas that require attention, we will outline all the options available to you. You will receive a clear, written treatment plan detailing the steps and exact costs, allowing you to make a decision at your own pace with absolutely no pressure.
