Veneers

Transform your smile with natural-looking veneers

If you’re unhappy with the look of your smile, dental veneers could be the ideal solution. They are thin porcelain shells, custom-made to fit perfectly over the front surface of your teeth and conceal imperfections including stains, cracks, chips and gaps. Whether you have one veneer or a whole arch of veneers, you can achieve a stunning smile transformation.

What does the treatment involve?

We begin your treatment with an initial consultation in our practice. We make sure your teeth and gums are healthy and suitable for treatment, and discuss the procedure with you.

We take scans and images of your mouth, which are used to create a model of your teeth and design your custom veneers. We can even show you just how your veneers can transform the appearance of your smile!

Once you’re happy with the look, we remove a thin layer of enamel from your teeth to prepare them for treatment. When your veneers are ready, we check they are exactly as you expected before fixing them in place using strong dental adhesive.

Frequently asked questions

How do I look after my veneers?

The best way to look after your veneers is to treat them just like natural teeth. Brush and floss regularly to keep them in the best condition, and make sure you visit your dentist and hygienist for routine check up appointments so they can keep a close eye on your oral health.

Can veneers break?

Modern veneers are very strong and resilient, but they do need to be treated with care to prevent unnecessary damage. Try to avoid using your teeth like tools by opening packaging, biting your fingernails or chewing pens. It is also a good idea to be careful when eating very hard and crunchy foods.

Are veneers permanent?

As the preparation process often involves removing a tiny amount of your natural enamel, the procedure is irreversible and veneers are designed to be kept on your teeth permanently. Your veneers themselves can last up to 15 years before needing to be replaced, depending on how well you look after them.

Are veneers painful?

You shouldn’t find either the treatment for veneers or the veneers themselves painful. We use a local anaesthetic to minimise your discomfort during the preparation and fitting process and ensure you are relaxed and ready before beginning any treatment. Most patients experience no pain or discomfort at all. You may feel some sensitivity once your veneers have been fitted, but this will go away after a few days.
